This project starts from a new dataset on political violence in Bangladesh. Based on four newspapers (one English, three Bengali) the project aims to map political violence in Bangladesh from 1991 to the present. The pervasive nature of political violence in Bangladesh as well as its rather diffuse nature, makes such a database invaluable in tracking trends in political violence in the country. The database provides data on the regional distribution of violence, the actors involved, wounded and lethal casualties from the violence. An initial report provides basic findings from the first part of the project. At the moment, the analysis of the dataset is taking priority.
