Sheikh Shams Morsalin

Sheikh Shams Morsalin is a PhD researcher at the Department of Conflict and Development Studies, Ghent University. His research focuses on informal cattle trade across India-Bangladesh borders. Morsalin has been teaching at the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka since 2010 after completing his bachelor (honours) and master’s studies in International Relations from the same university. He did his second master’s in Climate Change and Development from Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK under the Commonwealth scholarships. His research interests include Bangladesh foreign policy, non-traditional security issues, climate change adaptation challenges, and informal trade and border governance.

The project, generally, intends to understand how borderland population put their efforts to adapt to transforming international borders and earn alternative livelihoods.
