Hans De Marie Heungoup

I am Hans De Marie HEUNGOUP, working in the field of Political sociology, armed mobilization, and jihadism. Before joining Ghent University as PhD student, I studied Law and Political Science at the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC, Yaoundé) and International Security at Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (France). Over the past 14 years, I have worked on three geographical areas (Central Africa, Lake Chad Basin, and Kenya) for various research institutions, NGO, and intergovernmental organizations, notably: Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, International Crisis Group, European Union, and Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. I have authored in total fifteen international policy reports and about 32 academic outputs (African Affairs, Revue Défense Nationale, Egmont Institute), Op-Eds and commentaries (Le Monde, Jeune Afrique, Mail and Guardian). I also contribute periodically to global media (RFI, BBC, Al Jazeera, CGTN).
