Over the past decade, armed conflicts have been on the rise in West Africa. In these scenarios, there is a growing utilization by states and economic actors of Private Military and Security Companies (PMSC). This project aims to explore how these private security firms embody a specific expansion of market logics as a modality of governance and the exercise of violence and moreover, how they represent a transnational dimension of security frameworks.
