This research examines what societal and historical factors and circumstances enhanced the pre-2022 invasion secessionism in Lugansk and Donetsk in Ukraine, and whether similar factors-circumstances are present in northern and northeastern Kazakhstan with its sizeable Slavic and Russophone population.
